Positive Legacy Reflects & Shares Annual Report
What a year it has been! Reflecting to January 2019, it feels like we live in a different world. Last year, we decided to change our fiscal year to end in June to better match our event season, hence our annual report below covers 18 months: January 1st, 2019-June 30th, 2020. 2019 and the beginning of 2020 brought countless project successes outlined in the report. Since early spring, when COVID-19 began impacting all communities around the world, Positive Legacy was faced with the question: “how do we continue our mission to serve people and the environment?” We’ve pivoted from event fundraising to solely an online platform, and have been working with Cloud 9 Adventures and artists to release virtual content and shows to entertain viewers while they stayed safe at home. We focused our fundraising efforts to serve the live music industry crew who are out of work. We identified this need since these workers have a specialized and refined skill set which does not have an outlet to make an income right now. They continue to be impacted as one of the last industries that will be able to safely return to work. We wanted to support the community that has been contributing to the platform Positive Legacy has used to fundraise over the past 15 years: live events. As of the end of June, we’ve raised and provided over $45,000 in direct support to live industry crew workers.
As we navigate through these unprecedented times, we are appreciative of our adaptable mission: to use music to serve people and the environment, which has currently led us to focus on the growing needs of our neighbors across the US. We hope you enjoy this report which has been a wonderful practice in reflecting on the previous 18 months and all we have been able to achieve.
