We’re happy to report, the two-night benefit concerts were a great success, raising $35,000 to help Compass Family Services achieve their mission of ending family homelessness in San Francisco. The two-night benefit concerts were held September 26 &27, 2015 at the Great American Music Hall. Eddie Roberts’ Payback band featured Zigaboo Modeliste of The Meters, Robert Walter of Gregboy Allstars, Reed Mathis of Tea Leaf Green, Mike Dillon of Primus, Jennifer Hartswick of Trey Anastasio Band, Adryon de Leon of Orgone, Daniel Casares and Mike Olmos of West Coast Sounds, Harry Duncan of In The Soul Kitchen. The band, Euforquestra, opened both nights. The shows had concert goers throwing it down on the floor dancing with their funk/groove and soulful sound.
This was the second year the Payback rocked the Tenderloin with all of the proceeds benefiting Compass Family Services and their work with homeless families. The Payback was started by Eddie Roberts after his experience living in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood. He wanted to give back to the community and specifically make an impact with parents trying to support their children in an ever-challenging city.
Compass Family Services provides services to more than 5,000 parents and children each year – ending homelessness for many families and preventing homelessness for others. Services include housing, childcare, mental health and family counseling, employment and educational assistance and crisis intervention. The $35,000 raised will help secure stable housing for families at risk of homelessness and funding emergency shelter for families currently on the streets.You can learn more about Compass Family Services and how to contribute: www.compass-sf.org
Positive Legacy is proud of being The Payback’s nonprofit partner for the past two years, and excited to see Eddie Roberts’ Payback receive 501(c)(3) status just one week prior to the San Francisco Payback shows in September 2015. The Payback benefit concerts have also been held in Denver, Colorado with plans to expand to other major U.S. cities.
The Class of 2015 prepared for success as they graduate from Compass Children’s Center’s early childhood education and childcare program serving homeless and at-risk families in the heart of San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood.
