Dead & Company Bay Area Action Day Recap – June 4, 2017

With the music of the Grateful Dead and the 50th anniversary of the summer of Love as our inspiration, Positive Legacy hosted a Day of Dignity at the Project WeHOPE homeless shelter in East Palo Alto, CA on June 4th. 19 volunteers, 9 Positive Legacy and Dead & Company staff, 8 shelter staff, 1 painter, 4 musicians, 3 circus performers and 46 homeless shelter, 90 total, worked together to spiff up the shelter and give it a splash of color. We painted a beautiful mural in the intake area, led by artist Ron Tobin, wallpapered the sleeping quarters, scrubbed the sleeping cots and provided foot-baths and haircuts to the shelter clients. A mobile shower and laundry unit was brought in for our homeless friends to utilize. The atmosphere was especially festive thanks to the Big Fun Circus performers and some sweet live music provided by local band Moon Dog Bluegrass. In addition to the shelter improvements that were made that day, Positive Legacy made a $1,000 donation to Project WeHOPE for additional shelter improvements.

We received this follow-up note from Project WeHOPE Associate Director, Alicia Garcia:

“Thank you so much for coming out on Sunday and donating your time and talent to design and paint the beautiful mural in our shelter. The clients love it. I wish I could’ve captured a picture of their faces when they saw the completed work for the first time… priceless. We truly appreciate you giving back to the most under served member of our community.”

Dead & Company Boulder Action Day Recap – June 10, 2017

On Saturday, June 10, 2017 Dead & Company Fans joined Positive Legacy & Conscious Alliance for a day of giving back to the local📷 community of Boulder, Colorado at Community Food Share. This was a part of the overall Participation Row, Action Days where planned service projects gave Dead & Company fans a way to Leave a Positive Legacy in the communities along the summer tour.

Our Action Day at Community Food Share was a great way for all of us to support hunger relief and to assist Community Food Share’s mission to be a leader in the community’s effort to end hunger in Boulder and Broomfield counties. 25 of us gathered to sort, measure, and bag goods for distribution through the food share programs. We were also able to make a $1000 donation towards CFS from the contributions of the participants.

A note from Community Food Share about volunteering:

“Volunteers are the backbone of our operation. More than 3,500 people volunteer with us every year, providing 64% of our labor. Without the help of people like YOU we would not be able to open out doors. 1 hour of volunteering provides 80 meals!”

After we worked for a few hours in the warehouse we all joined together for a lunch provided by Cosmo’s Pizza & tasty beverages from Oskar Blues Brewery. While we enjoyed lunch, Tyler Grant & Adrian Enfer both of Grant Farm serenaded us with some groovy tunes.

Cheers to a job well done everyone! We are grateful to all of you for Leaving a Positive Legacy in the Boulder community!
