Here are some EASY and FUN ways to engage with Positive Legacy at Holidaze 2021:

Recycled Craft Activity - Tawashi Making | Event Day 2 | 12:00-1:00 PM | Positive Legacy HQ (Lobby Bar)

Come make a homemade “zero-waste” woven kitchen sponge using recycled materials! Originating in Japan, a tawashi is a scrubbing brush for wet cleaning traditionally made from the fibers of the windmill palm. Nowadays, tawashi includes any form of sponge used for rubbing and washing. This fun and free eco-friendly 'craftivity' is first come, first serve.

Day of Service | Event Day 3 | 11:00-12:30 PM | Theatre

Food insecurity is devastating Mexico, and the pandemic has only exacerbated this inequity. The Mexican government does not provide assistance such as national unemployment benefits, so to say that our friends in the resort communities have been greatly affected by the pandemic is an understatement. We want to take this opportunity to support those who have been so good to us in our home away from home for all these years.

Join Positive Legacy, in partnership with Mike’s Amazing, in the morning or afternoon of Event Day 3 for a short 1.5-hour shift assembling food & supply boxes for families in need throughout Quintana Roo.

Name That Tune BINGO with Andy Frasco | Event Day 3 | 1:00-2:00 PM | Main Pool

It’s the game we all know and love! While enjoying your afternoon by the pool, come join us in a game of musical BINGO to benefit Positive Legacy! As the songs play, you guess the name and fill in your card for the chance to win great prizes! $20 cash donation for 2 games. Play with your friends, have fun and listen to some of your favorite songs!

Live Auction | Event Day 4 | Live: 6:45PM | Positive Legacy HQ (Lobby Bar)

Come bid on one of a kind items in our live auction that you can’t find anywhere else!

Online Auction closes Event Day 4 | 7:00 PM

Bid on autographed photos, concert tickets, and unique memorabilia from Closer to the Sun musicians during the online auction! Auction proceeds support Positive Legacy’s environmental and humanitarian projects.

Offset Your Carbon Footprint anytime at Positive Legacy HQ (Lobby Bar)

Positive Legacy and Trees, Water & People make it easy to travel responsibly by offsetting the emissions from your travel to Mexico for Holidaze. A $15 carbon offset donation will support a community tree nursery that is producing 10,000 trees a year for rural communities on the north coast of Haiti, providing fruit, improved soil quality, timber, and the sequestration of thousands of tons of carbon dioxide emissions over their lifetimes. Take this opportunity to feel empowered and leave your own Positive Legacy during Holidaze! Stop by Positive Legacy HQ to make a donation or take action online!

HOLIDAZE RECAP (2011-2018)

Positive Legacy joined the Holidaze community in 2011. Nine events later, Positive Legacy has fundraised $65,000 while on-site in Mexico and the Dominican Republic!

Funds raised at Holidaze have supported:

  • Funding a community center with a medical facility, schoolhouse and garden in Central Vallarta, MX

  • The Punta Cana Ecological Foundation and the Fuentes de Vida project, a clean water and waste treatment system in Veron, DR

  • Creating the Casa de la Cultura community center in Puerto Morelos, MX

  • Building the Phoenix School, a cooperative based on a humanistic approach to learning, personal development and social transformation based in Tulum, MX

Positive Legacy has led Days of Service in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, bringing festival attendees to see the community projects firsthand. We are also honored to have been joined on Days of Service by members of The Disco Biscuits, Umphrey’s McGee and Lotus along with their families.

(2018) Day of Service guest Amanda shared with us: “Participating in the Positive Legacy excursion was educational, rewarding and fun! It is great to get to meet the local community and see the difference this organization and music lovers are making for the local people. They are doing great work and making a difference in people’s lives. And I was stoked to visit and swim in a cenote and experience some unique local nature too. So beautiful!

No matter the country, Positive Legacy always appreciates the support and participation of both fans and artists in our activities including BINGO, Charity Auction, Donation Drive and Mystery Mixologist Charity Bartending!
