HUFH Awarded Henry Schein Cares Medal

Our partners from Hands Up for Haiti were recently awarded the Henry Schein Cares Medal for medical health. This inaugural. prestigious award is given by the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, the world’s largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, animal health and medical practitioners. The award is appointed by a panel of medical professionals to a nonprofit for demonstrating excellence in expanding access to care for the underserved.

Hands Up for Haiti is a medical humanitarian organization committed to making a sustainable and positive impact on the health of the people of Northern Haiti. They do this by collaborating with and supporting the Haitian medical community, by delivering direct care and educational programs to the communities that they serve, and by partnering with allied organizations. Positive Legacy is one of those allied organizations. In October of 2015, Positive Legacy was able to donate $18,350 to HUFH to renovate the existing solar electric system at the Haiti Village Health Compound (HVH) and install a new electrical system in the the Sante Pou Yo Health Clinic, in Bod-me-Limbe, Haiti. This clinic services 16 Communities, a population of approximately 25000-30000, half of whom are children. Read more about that project here.

Stanley M. Bergman, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Henry Schein, Inc., stated, “Our Company has embraced the concept of ‘doing well by doing good’ since its founding, and we created the Henry Schein Cares Medal to recognize organizations and practitioners that share our commitment to ‘helping health happen’ for underserved and vulnerable populations throughout the world. We at Henry Schein are pleased to award the inaugural Henry Schein Cares Medal for medical health to Hands Up for Haiti, an organization committed to supporting the health needs of the Haitian people and enhancing their medical community’s ability to provide quality care.”

As the winner, HUFH will receive $15,000 from the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, Inc. to support their mission and $10,000 worth of product from Henry Schein, Inc. We are thrilled that HUFH was recognized for their sustainable, medical impact that they are harvesting in Haiti. Congratulations Hands Up for Haiti!
